2.1.6 Facade, Rainscreen and Cladding Application Guide

New Buiding and Renovation

  1. Tile cladding
  2. Timber or metal support structure, mechanically fastened through the insulation to the concrete structure
  3. FOAMGLAS® insulation bonded with adhesive

Physical properties and advantages of the FOAMGLAS® insulation system

  • Variety of cladding systems (lightweight to medium-heavy cladding materials, small, medium and large size units.
  • Best thermal insulation performance for narrow wall construction. Will retain its design insulation value, providing protection against heat gain and loss, for the lifetime of the building.
  • Minimal thermal bridges with fastening plates applied to the outer surface of the insulation with through fastening bolts.
  • Durable/continuous insulation performance (resistant to moisture, excellent dimensional stability: no shrinkage, warping or swelling)
  • Gap behind the outer leaf can be reduced to a minimum to allow for installation
  • Impervious to water of any kind.
  • Non-combustible insulation system. No flame spread across the façade.
  • Resistant to rodents and vermin.
  • Ecological: cellular glass is totally free from CFC, HCFC, HFA and other harmful substances.
  • Sustainability: Sustainable performance for up to 50 years with protection against heat, cold moisture and fire.
